This airfoil-shaped propeller is specifically calibrated for the load and speed characteristics of diver propulsion vehicles (DPVs), which differ significantly from boat applications. The airfoil geometry produces thrust both by displacing water and by generating lift similar to an airplane wing, resulting in efficient propulsion.
